10th annual Christmas in the City helps Buffalo children in need

The event, which was held at the Pratt Willard Community Center, serves about 200 to 300 kids every year.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — It looked a lot like Christmas in the City of Buffalo's Fruit Belt neighborhood, where the 10th annual Christmas in the City event was held Saturday at the Pratt Willard Community Center.

It had many activities for the family, such as a petting zoo, bell ringers and time with Santa.

"It was something that we were trying to do to make holidays special for the inner-city children that live in so much blight and don't have very much," said Benjamin Cashaw, the founder and CEO of the Fruit Belt Coalition.

"We started out in the Fruit Belt area. Now we serve the whole inner-city population, as many as we can take."

The event serves about 200 to 300 kids every year.
