BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Areal Flood Watch for parts of WNY has been allowed to expire.

Many rounds of heavy rainfall lead to rain accumulations of 2 to 4 inches within a two day stretch, leading to the chance for area flooding. This could mean flooding of areas with poor drainage, low lying areas near creeks and streams and underpasses. If you live in a flood prone area, this would be a good time to take preparations.

The biggest impacts as showers and storms swirl into the region will be the heavy, fast onset of their downpours which could lead to significantly reduced visibility, ponding and the threat of hydroplaning.

Thankfully, the weather system that is producing these showers and storms will move out Wednesday.
