LOCKPORT, N.Y. — A man will spend 30 years in prison in connection to two shootings in Niagara County.
Kalique Miller, a 19-year-old from Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty back in January on charges of attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Miller received a 20-year sentence for shooting a 22-year-old woman multiple times on Nov. 10, 2022, in Niagara Falls. He received another 10 years for firing at a police officer on Jan. 18, 2023, in the Town of Niagara.
The Town of Niagara shooting happened after an officer responded to a burglary call.
Miller had faced up to 35 years in prison.

“This defendant shot and nearly killed a young lady, then in a separate incident, fired at police. We will be asking the judge to impose the full 35 years for the safety of the community and because these crimes deserve it,” Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman said in a statement on Jan. 31, following the announcement of the guilty pleas.
Miller was sentenced on Thursday. The sentences will be served consecutively.
"Police officers put themselves in harm’s way every day in order to protect our community," Seaman said Thursday. "Thankfully Officer Bissell was hot harmed in this instance. Also, thankfully, the young woman that this defendant shot is recovering well from her injuries.
"The judge’s sentence ensures that this dangerous individual will not pose a threat to others in the community for a very long time."
