Delaware North volunteers clean up MLK Park as Earth Day approaches

Roughly 70 volunteers picked up some shovels to get rid of invasive plants and trim some hedges.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Delaware North on Friday made sure to carry on its tradition of beautifying Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

The group helped clean up near the park's greenhouse ahead of Earth Day. Roughly 70 volunteers picked up some shovels to get rid of invasive plants and trim some hedges.

"Since 2017, the organization has contributed nearly $500,000 to conservation efforts," Katie Gorman, the director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Strategic Initiatives at Delaware North, told 2 On Your Side.

Delaware North said it has for some time supported the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy through both donations and volunteer efforts, such as Friday's cleanup.

Earth Day is Monday.
