BUFFALO, N.Y. — Nearly a dozen new food and drink spots opened in April across Western New York – with many more coming in the next few months.

Buffalo Business First reported on 11 openings, five closings and 26 projects under development, plus a dozen updates and trend stories. There were also a few business sales mixed in there.

Openings in Buffalo, Cheektowaga, E. Amherst and Hamburg

• The Original Vasilis opened inside Cathedral Place at 298 Main St. in Buffalo, formerly home to Mon Ami and before that, Globe Market. The Greek restaurant comes from Vasilis Panagopoulos, who has a long history of restaurants in the region, including sites now operating under new owners on Elmwood Avenue and Main Street.

Jessie’s Hidden Café & Bistro opened at 2875 Union Road inside the AppleTree Business Park in Cheektowaga, the former Queen City Coffee House & Eatery. Owner Jessica Linden managed Queen City for six years under before buying the business and taking over the lease from owner Vincent DeMarco.
